In a rare sighting, a cougar was spotted in the Seabird Island community on Wednesday, September 23.
Seabird Island officials stated a local bus driver spotted the big cat on Chowat Road before a resident’s dogs chased it away.
According to WildSafeBC, cougars account for 2,5000 calls to the Conservation Officer Service reporting line every year. Interestingly, WildSafeBC states that reported cougar sightings could turn out to be different animals altogether.
