A cougar was spotted early this morning at Princeton Secondary School.
RCMP Sergeant Barry Kennedy said the detachment received two reports of the cougar, at about 5:30 a.m..
Kennedy said the cat was observed on school property for about half an hour but was gone when police arrived to investigate.
“It was probably just passing through,” he said.
A conservation officer from Merritt is patrolling the area this morning, said Kennedy.
Parents of high school students were notified of the sighting by an automated phone message.
