TERRACE council members have now been assigned to various committees, task forces, community groups and internal city committees.
Chosen by mayor Dave Pernarowski, individual appointments were approved by council at last night’s city council meeting, Jan. 9.
Appointments see councillors Brian Downie with seven roles including two alternate positions, Lynne Christiansen with eight roles including two alternates, Bruce Bidgood with six including two alternates, Marilyn Davies with eight including three alternates, Stacey Tyers with seven including one alternate, and James Cordeiro with eight involving three alternates. Mayor Dave Pernarowski has six including two alternates.
Pernarowski said that while selecting appointments, he tried to keep balance in mind.
Downie was appointed to the Co-op property development task force, to serve as city liaison for the Northwest Corridor Development Corporation, airport society, beautification society, and the city’s internal development services committee.
He was appointed as alternate representation for educational services, including NWCC, Coast Mountains School District 82 and UNBC and was earlier voted alternate director for the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine.
Christiansen was appointed to the housing committee, community forest corporation, Terrace and District Museum Society, Greater Terrace Food Council, Yellowhead Highway Association, and the city’s fire department committee. Her alternates are with Kermodei Tourism and the Terrace Public Library.
Bidgood was appointed to the Measuring Up Terrace Committee, Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine (which required council’s vote in early Sept.), Skeena Diversity and the city’s leisure services department. His alternates include the Terrace Economic Development Authority and beautification society.
Davies was appointed to the First Nations Relations Committee, the Measuring Up Terrace Committee, Kermodei Tourism, the Riverboat Days Committee and the city’s public works department. Her alternates include the Northwest Corridor Development Corporation, Terrace Downtown Improvement Area Society and the seniors’ committee.
Tyers was appointed to the First Nations Relations Committee, Youth Advisory Committee, Terrace Public Library, Seniors’ Committee and as liaison for the city’s finance department. Her alternates include the Terrace and District Museum Society and the Greater Terrace Food Council.
Cordeiro will serve on the Co-op Property Development Task Force, the housing committee, Terrace Downtown Improvement Area Society and as liaison for educational services and the local RCMP detachment. He was appointed alternate for the airport society, Skeena Diversity, and was earlier voted alternate director for the Regional District of Kitimat Stikine.
Pernarowski was earlier voted director for the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine, and appointed himself liaison for the Terrace Economic Development Authority, Yellowhead Highway Association, and to city administration. His alternates include the community forest corporation and the riverboat days committee.
