The City of Victoria’s hearing on an injunction to remove illegally moored boats from the Gorge Waterway will be heard tomorrow (Nov. 1) at the B.C. Supreme Court.
Past story
The court order requires owners to move their boats and docks, of which there are 17 and four, respectively, from the waterway because they contravene a City bylaw. That law limits long-term mooring to a maximum of 48 hours and not more than 72 hours in a 30-day period, and prohibits live-aboard use of boats and storing vessels.
The City has been working with Pacifica Housing to help those living on the boats find alternate housing, according to a statement.
A September hearing was rescheduled after the judge gave those affected more time to respond.
