BC Transit is limiting the number of passengers on each Penticton bus starting March 30.
The move comes as part of the efforts to keep riders and drivers safe amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The number of passengers will be reduced to half of the seating capacity, to allow space for physical distancing.
In addition, riders will be asked to stand behind a red line of floor tape. Updated information will be posted on the buses.

BC Transit is deemed an essential service by the Province of B.C. and will continue to operate province wide.
According to BC Transit, a number of safety improvements have already been made, including enhanced cleaning measures and enforcing rear-door entry. All fares have also been temporarily waived.
“We’re grateful to BC Transit for taking these extra measures,” said Penticton Mayor, John Vassilaki.
“Many people rely on the buses to get around. These include people who are stocking our shelves, providing essential services, or community members who need to pick up groceries and prescriptions. Any efforts we can take to promote physical distancing will ensure we stay safe and healthy.”
