Quesnel’s COVID-19 numbers are on the rise.
Data released by the B.C. Centre for Disease Control shows public health detected 14 cases in the region between April 25 to May 1, the most recent times data is available.
That number of cases is enough for Quesnel to have between 5 and 10 cases per 100,000 people. Quesnel’s health area has mostly stayed under 5.1 cases per 100,000 throughout the pandemic.

Along with those numbers, Northern Health has announced another elementary school exposure inside the Quesnel School District.
Voyageur Elementary School reported an exposure between April 22 – 26. Unless a family is directly contacted by Northern Health, the risk of exposure is low, but parents are asked to be on the lookout for symptoms.
A letter sent to parents in the Quesnel School District for a previous exposure listed cough, fever/chills, loss of taste/smell, Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and shortness of breath as key COVID-19 symptoms.
