Here’s the latest on the COVID-19 pandemic in Surrey, White Rock and beyond for Wednesday, May 20. This will be updated as information becomes available throughout the day:

• New ‘germ-killing robots’ will be used to fight COVID-19 at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster.

• The earliest that the Canadian Football League season will start is September, league commissioner Randy Ambrosie says – and a full cancellation of the season is still possible.

• After three straight days of having new COVID-19 cases in single digits, B.C. recorded 21 new cases and three more deaths, the province announced Tuesday.

• City governments will get more power with regard to restaurant/bar patios, according to B.C Attorney General David Eby.
