Fraser Health has declared the latest COVID-19 outbreak at Mission Memorial Hospital over.
The outbreak was initially declared on Feb. 18, when three patients were infected. Evidence of transmission on two units was found, the medicine unit, and the patient assistance and transition home (PATH) unit.
“It is critically important for people living in the Fraser Health region to get tested as soon as you have COVID-19-like symptoms, even mild ones. Please don’t wait, and book or drop by one of our collection centres which are operated in partnership with local divisions of family practice,” Fraser Health said in the March 31 press release.
The units were temporarily closed to admissions, but the rest of the hospital remained fully operational.
The hospital had a previous outbreak, announced on June 17, 2020, which led to numerous cases in Lower Mainland care homes being traced back to the hospital.
