Interior Health is reporting an outbreak of COVID-19 at Hardy View Lodge long-term care facility in Grand Forks.
One resident and one staff member have contracted the virus. The outbreak was declared Thursday.
Interior Health says when an outbreak is declared, additional infection control and preventive measures are implemented to minimize the risk of the disease spreading.
“This includes temporary restrictions to group activities and non-essential services, as well as pausing all social visits and non-urgent medical appointments,” a statement read.
“At the beginning of an outbreak, all impacted staff and residents are tested; residents are monitored for symptoms twice daily and anyone with symptoms is tested.”
Hardy View is one of nine facilities in Interior Health where a COIVD outbreak has been declared, including Jubilee Manor in Nelson and Kootenay Street Village in Cranbrook.
Interior Health does not release any details on whether the people involved have been vaccinated.
