Three patients in Mission Memorial Hospital have tested positive for COVID-19, and Fraser Health has declared an outbreak.
The outbreak is limited to two units where evidence of transmission was found: The medicine unit, and the patient assistance and transition home (PATH) unit, according to a Feb. 18 news release from Fraser Health.
The units have been temporarily closed to admissions, but the rest of the hospital is fully operational. All patients on the affected units have been notified of the outbreak, and staff are working with essential visitors to the units on a case-by-case basis, the health authority said.
“Fraser Health continues to implement precautions, including enhanced cleaning, as well as contact tracing to protect the health of all staff, medical staff, and patients,” says the news release.
The hospital had a previous outbreak, announced this summer on June 17. Numerous cases in Lower Mainland care homes were traced back to the hospital.
