“The board of directors of the Peach City Beach Cruise is saddened to release the decision that we have to cancel this year’s 20th annual show,” event organizers wrote on their website.
“We did not make this decision hastily and we are just as upset as each of you.”
Organizers said continuing with the show could have resulted in “financial disaster” for the organization as the statuses of many key sponsors are in question and international travel has been restricted. The show usually attracts a large amount of American volunteers and tourists.
The show relies on over 300 volunteers each year. Many registered volunteers have apparently already cancelled.
“Directors want to be ensure the show is the best it can be and would prefer to have a great show in 2021 rather than risk it all in 2020,” explained the organization.
