A construction crane-operator had to be rescued by Abbotsford emergency crews after suffering a medical emergency inside the machine’s multi-story cockpit around 1 p.m.

The construction site of the new courthouse on Tretheway Street temporarily halted as firefighters scaled the crane to reach the man who was trapped inside.

Emergency crews strapped the man into a harness and helped him slowly decend the crane’s ladders.

The man eventually made it down to the crane’s base.

The specifics of the man’s medical emergency are unknown at this time.
