A fiery accident near Prairie Valley Road in Summerland on Highway 97 caused vehicles to be detoured on Sunday night.
One sedan sitting on the shoulder of Highway 97 in the southbound lane, just past the intersection, suffered rear end damage. A sedan behind it also appeared to suffer vehicle damage. Behind both of the vehicles was the charred remains of a mobile home, that appeared to have been mostly consumed by the fire.
Although DriveBC does not have any detours on their website, drivers heading north on Highway 97 were being directed on a detour to Lakeshore Drive. Those coming south on Highway 97 did have access to the highway as of 30 minutes ago. Emergency personnel were allowing southbound drivers to use the northbound lanes and merge back at Walters Road.
There is no update yet from RCMP as to the condition of any people in the vehicles.
