Vehicles are reportedly beginning to move again on Highway 1 westbound after a crash halted traffic just east of Sumas Way.
DriveBC webcams show traffic backed up well beyond Cole Road from the crash, a distance of about eight kilometres.
Emergency vehicles are on scene, and the highway has been reduced to single-lane traffic.
Drivers should be wary of black ice in that area, DriveBC said in a tweet.
UPDATE – #BCHwy1 – Vehicle incident westbound, just east of #BCHwy11 – Sumas Way in #Abbotsford. The highway has been reduced to one lane westbound. Emergency crews are on scene. Expect black ice in this area, please slow down and drive to conditions. #ShiftIntoWinter
