Creston Dragon’s Den returns

A local version of Dragon's Den will once again put the spotlight on new local businesses.

A local version of Dragon’s Den will once again put the spotlight on new local businesses.

Presented, appropriately, by the Creston Valley Chamber of Commerce, the all-in-good-fun competition is scheduled for October 17, and there are still openings for contestants.

“There will be up to 10 new businesses (that started in 2017) or business ideas,” Chamber of Commerce manager Vern Gorham, who will emcee the event, said on Thursday. “This evening promises to be bigger and better than the successful first year’s show.”

With sponsorship by SaveOn Foods and Juice FM, Creston Dragon’s Den will finish with prizes to the top three competitors—as chosen by a panel of five judges from various backgrounds—who will be vying for a $1,000 gift certificate from SaveOn Foods, the event’s platinum sponsor.

Each competitor will have up to six minutes to make their pitches, and four minutes of questioning by the judges will follow.

Gold sponsors will also participate in the October 17 event by setting up display tables where audience members can enter prize draws. Doors will open at 6 p.m. at Prince Charles Theatre to allow time for draw entries and conversation with sponsors.

“There are still openings for contestants,” Gorham said. “There is no cost to enter.”

Entries can be submitted to the Chamber of Commerce web site, www.crestonvalleychamber.com, by September 12.
