Creston Fire Rescue (CFR) responded to eight calls for service between March 15 and 19.
At 1:43 p.m. on March 15, CFR assisted paramedics with medical aid and patient care in the area of 6 Avenue North.
On March 19 at 9:56 a.m., CFR was dispatched to the area of Canyon Street and 11 Avenue North for a motor vehicle incident (MVI) involving a pedestrian.
“On arrival of fire crews, one patient was being treated by BCAS paramedics. Firefighters secured the scene and assisted BCAS (paramedics) with care and packaging,” said CFR.
At 4:00 p.m. that same day, CFR assisted paramedics with patient care and medical aid in the area of 11 Avenue South.
On March 20 at 5:28 p.m., Creston Valley fire departments were dispatched to the area of Canyon Street and Crawford Street for a wildland fire.
“Firefighters arrived on scene to shrubs and grass on fire, spreading towards structures. Crews were able to contain the fire with no structure involvement,” said CFR.
At 5:12 a.m. on March 22, CFR responded to a MVI involving two-vehicles in the area of Highway 3, east of Yahk. According to CFR, the occupant of one vehicle was removed from the car with the help of BCAS paramedics and Yahk-Kingsgate Fire Department volunteers, while the occupant of the second vehicle was extricated using the jaws of life.
That same day, at 12:50 p.m., CFR assisted BCAS paramedics with medical aid and patient care in the area of 11 Avenue South.
A few hours later, at 2:33 p.m., Creston Valley fire departments were dispatched to the area of Sinclair Road for an interface wildland fire.
“Firefighters were able to knock down the fire quickly and protect nearby structures. Please remember to pay attention to wind conditions, have adequate water on site and check the venting index before starting an open burn,” said CFR.
Later that evening, at 11:44 p.m., CFR was dispatched to the area of 19 Avenue North for a fire alarm. Firefighters and the property representative later found a small leak in the fire sprinkler system.
