Creston RCMP responded to 85 calls for service from July 13-19, Cpl. Monty Taylor said on Tuesday.
July 13
•A tent containing a sleeping male in the 3100 block of Highway 3 was entered by two males, one wearing a clown mask and the other with a dog. They demanded money, but the camper was able to fend off his attackers and get away to call police. Two suspects have been identified and the investigation continues.
•A Birch Street resident reported that the rear driver’s side fender and bumper of his vehicle were damaged in a hit and run at an unknown location sometime between July 2-12.
•A male riding a scooter in the 3500 block of Highway 3 was threatened by two males in a black vehicle, one with dreadlocks. The complainant was told, “Run or I’ll kill you.”
•A conservation officer was called to dispatch an injured elk at Reclamation Road and Swan Road.
•A survey pin was removed illegally from a property in the 800 block of Ashton Drive.
•Patrols were unable to locate reported speeding vehicles on Sixth Avenue South.
July 14
•An intoxicated male lying on the road in the middle of the night in the 400 block of Eighth Avenue South was ordered to go inside his residence.
•A late night trespasser in the 100 block of 11th Avenue North was not located.
•No suspects have been identified in the break and entry to storage sheds at the Creston Golf Course.
•Four transient workers found climbing on CP Rail cars and the grain elevators were warned about their behaviour.
•An erratic driver doing donuts in an older white Chevrolet on Highway 3 at Nick’s Island Road was not located.
•An employee at a Helen Street business complained that he was being threatened and harassed by a male co-worker.
•Police are investigating a complaint about a male abusing dogs in his vehicle on Cook Street.
July 15
•Despite setting up a roadblock on Highway 3/95 at Johnson Road after receiving a report about a possibly impaired driver, police were unable to get their man. Or woman, as the case may be.
•Creston police served a subpoena to a Scott Street resident on behalf of Golden RCMP.
•A 40th Street resident reported her cat was attacked by a neighbour’s dogs.
•A male reported receiving bridge toll bills from Vancouver for a vehicle bearing a licence plate he said he returned to ICBC in 2013.
•When police investigated a complaint about a dog left in a parked vehicle on Cook Street they found the owner returning after a short time away, the vehicle windows down and the dog in good health.
•A wallet found in the 3700 block of Highway 3 was turned in to a business and it was eventually returned to its owner, a Quebec resident.
•A male in medical distress in the 400 block of Eighth Avenue South was transported to hospital.
July 16
•A golf cart was left in a yard in the 400 block of 20th Avenue North. A short time later the owner reported it stolen and he is now in possession of his cart once again.
•Police delivered a subpoena to a Fifth Avenue North resident on behalf of Surrey RCMP.
•A 57-year-old male drove into the wall of a business on Northwest Boulevard. He was found to be impaired and issued a 90-day driving prohibition. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
•An Ainsworth Avenue resident in Riondel reported that three cookbooks are missing from her home, including Muffins and More, and Preserves. The other has been returned, she said.
•A search of Kootenay Lake was undertaken after a female reported that she had argued with her intoxicated boyfriend, who then took off in a boat on the lake after threatening to harm himself. The 40-year-old was later found unharmed on a road and taken to hospital for an evaluation.
July 17
•Police are investigating a report of a domestic assault on Aldrich Road.
•An abandoned motorcycle bearing a trailer plate was towed from the 600 block of 24th Avenue South.
•A male driver reported that the hitch of his small utility trailer broke while he was driving on Highway 3. It went into the ditch and no one was injured.
•Police were called to a landlord-tenant dispute on Erickson Road.
•Police referred a complaint from a neighbour that a male was not providing adequate care for his older wife to the appropriate agencies.
•An orange bike with Planes graphics was stolen from a carport on 10th Avenue North.
•A suspect has been identified after a donation box was stolen from a Northwest Boulevard business.
•When police located a male who left a West Creston Road residence after a disturbance there, he showed signs of having consumed alcohol. He was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition, given a ticket for driving without insurance ($598) and held in police cells overnight.
•A 19-year-old male found by police to have open beer in his vehicle at the Kootenay Lake ferry landing had a court condition not to consume alcohol. He was arrested and released when a court date was set.
•An iPhone that was found and turned in to police has been returned to the owner.
•A 41-year-old male from Nelson was stopped at a checkstop on Riondel Road at Highway 3A and found to be intoxicated. He was given a 90-day driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
July 18
•Police are investigating a break and entry to a Canyon Street business.
•A lost wallet found in the 5100 block of Highway 3A was returned to its owner by police.
•The source of shots reported in the West Creston area was not determined.
•Cherries were stolen from the 1600 block of Erickson Road.
•A motorcyclist was not injured when his bike hit gravel and went off the road on Highway 3A. The bike was totalled.
•Two males who set up camp in Burns Park on 25th Avenue South were told to move on.
July 19
•A small quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was seized from a group of males in the 300 block of 19th Avenue South.
•An intoxicated female was arrested on 11th Avenue South and held in cells overnight.
•An Alberta driver found to be driving 52 km/h over the speed limit in the 15000 block of Crawford Creek Road was ticketed for driving at an excessive speed and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
•A camera found in the 12000 block of Highway 3A has been returned to its owner.
•A 22-year-old male who was stopped on Northwest Boulevard for using a cellphone while driving was also found to be a new driver who wasn’t displaying an N tag. He was given a 90-day driving prohibition and a ticket for driving while distracted.
•A 20-year-old male was arrested on Fourth Avenue North after a fight with his mother. He was held overnight and released in the morning.
