Creston RCMP responded to 56 calls for service from March 23-29, Staff Sgt. Bob Gollan said on Monday.
March 23
•Police are asking the public for assistance in identifying the person who burned a travel trailer in the gravel pit on Lloyd Road. The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is considering fencing off access to the property following the incident.
•A Reclamation Road resident complained about receiving unwelcome text messages from members of her deceased husband’s family.
•Pocket dialing was attributed to a 911 call from Eighth Avenue North.
•A suspicious person reported by a Helen Street business was gone when police arrived.
March 24
•When police responded to a 911 call from a Northwest Boulevard business’s phone number, they found the building to be locked and secure.
•A Lyons Road resident reported her house was entered and cash was stolen from her purse.
•A warning letter has been sent to the owner of a vehicle that passed a school bus displaying flashing lights on Highway 3 in Erickson.
•A female was injured when the ATV on which she was a passenger rolled on Pilot Bay Road. The driver was issued tickets for having no insurance and driving without due care and attention.
March 25
•A male was arrested on a medical warrant and transported to Cranbrook.
•A male on Northwest Boulevard was issued a ticket for being drunk in public.
•A large grey tarp covering an RV on Lakeview-Arrow Creek Road was stolen.
•Two people required medical treatment after a semi rolled on Highway 95 near Hollis Road.
•Police are investigating a report that two vehicles stopped on McMurtry Road and then all occupants drove off in one, leaving the other behind.
March 26
•Police helped apprehend a male on a medical warrant.
•When police responded to a report of a male exiting the old Pioneer Villa building with a blanket around his shoulders, they found him in the company of a female who was in contravention of a no-contact order. She was arrested.
•Two 911 calls coming from a Clement Road address were attributed to a toddler playing with a cellphone.
•An alleged fraud of $20,000 investment in Australia is being investigated.
•Police are investigating an assault on Elm Street after a male required hospital treatment when he was hit on the head with a coffee mug.
•Police attended the scene of a semi rollover on Highway 3 in which emergency crews worked for more than four hours to extricate the driver.
•A female was arrested and released on conditions following a domestic dispute on Highway 3.
March 27
•The driver of a semi whose cab caught fire on Highway 3 east of Kootenay Pass sustained burns to his face and hands.
•Kootenay Lake ferry staff checked a male who boasted to others that he had consumed a quantity of liquor while waiting for the ferry in Balfour. He arranged for a ride home.
•A report was called in about people stealing bags of sheep manure that were strewn after the semi rolled over on Highway 3.
•A complaint about a historic assault is being investigated.
•A complaint was received about dump trucks speeding on Elsie Holmes Road after leaving the gravel pit.
•A mother did not co-operate in pressing charges against her son after she reported to police that he had taken her car without permission. He was issued a ticket for driving without a license.
March 28
•The male of a vehicle that rolled onto its roof on Highway 3/95 told police he was pulling over to answer his cellphone when he caught the soft shoulder and lost control of the vehicle.
•A female reported to be yelling from her deck on Northwest Boulevard was found to be in need of medical treatment and was taken to hospital.
•A Murdoch Street resident reported that a female offered to buy a vehicle he had listed on Kijiji. She was shipping the vehicle to her grandfather in P.E.I., she said, and asked him to send $942 to pay for the transportation, which she would reimburse with her cheque. Her email came from England. He did so and then got another email, this time from South Africa, asking him to send another $1,000, at which point he suspected a scam.
•Police were called to a landlord-tenant dispute on 36th Street.
March 29
•Police assisted emergency health services personnel with a male who required hospital treatment.
•The condition of a male whose tractor flipped over onto him on Evans Road was unknown by police at press time.
•When police investigated a complaint about shots fired on Whimster Road they determined the noise from fireworks, which had been used up when they arrived on the scene.
