Crew battles Blazed Creek fire

While the blaze is visible from Highway 3 it is not currently affecting highway traffic.

A wildfire in the Blazed Creek area is burning about two kilometres north of Highway 3.

The fire was started by a lightning strike on Tuesday and is now estimated to cover 80 hectares, according to the Southeast Fire Centre in Castlegar. Blazed Creek is about 26 km northwest of Creston.

By Thursday afternoon, a crew of 21 firefighting personnel was on site, assisted by three helicopters and four pieces of heavy equipment.

While the blaze is visible from Highway 3 it is not currently affecting highway traffic.
