Firefighters from the Village of Nakusp and BC Wildfire Service are tackling a forest fire just south of town.
The fire, estimated to be 1.5 hectares in size, is burning near Box Lake Lumber, but is not currently threatening any structures or homes, BCWS says.
The fire was called in about 2:30 p.m.
BCWS communications officer Ashlene Aktarian says the Southeast Fire Centre had aerial water bombers in the air at the time, and sent them over to Box Lake to try to douse the flames.
Since then two initial attack crews, one helicopter and air tankers arrived and are working to contain the fire.
