January 2012 marks the 20th year of the South Okanagan Similkameen Crime Stoppers program serving citizens of the South Okanagan Similkameen area.  It has also been declared Crime Stoppers month throughout the world.

Crime Stoppers is a not for profit volunteer organization that collects anonymous information, passes it along to the appropriate investigative body and pays cash rewards to tipsters for successful information.  It is not a police program and relies solely on the generosity of the business community and citizens to fund its operations through tax deductible donations.  When providing information on crimes your identity is protected and you never have to testify in court.  A Crime Stoppers representative is available to make presentations to any group within our area explaining how our program operates and it’s value to all citizens.

Thanks to all of you through your financial support and providing anonymous information on crimes to our toll free number 1.800-222-8477(TIPS) or through our website at www.southokanagancrimestoppers, we have had a very successful year assisting the police in keeping our communities as safe as possible providing an environment that is safe to live, work and play in.

Crime Stoppers looks forward to another productive year ahead,  through your support, in our combined efforts of fighting crime.  Should you be interested in having a Crime Stoppers presentation or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Regional Crime Stoppers Coordinator, Al Sismey at 250 770-4721.

On behalf of our board of directors and myself, I would like to thank each and everyone of you and wish you a very safe, healthy and prosperous 2012.
