Dannielle Goulet of Cumberland is in the running to be the next tattooed model to grace the cover of Inked magazine.
The 36-year-old fitness model/entrepreneur has reached the top 15 in the online contest. She is in third place at the moment.
Voting for the top 10 ends Thursday, March 5 at 11 p.m.
“It’s all based on public voting,” Goulet said. “It goes down to the top five, top 2, then there’s wildcard rounds.”
Being voted Inked magazine’s cover girl comes with a US$25,000 grand prize. If she wins, Goulet will spend the money on a down payment on her first home.
Along with the money, the winner receives an all-expense-paid trip for a cover shoot.
“I’ve been working on my tattoos for many years,” said Goulet, whose body is largely covered in tattoos.
Along with a full back piece, her feet, her right arm and right leg are covered. She also has random art work on her neck and fingers. She added a cactus tattoo to her ankle during a recent trip to Mexico.
“My next piece is going to be my chest,” said Goulet, whose first tattoo — a mustang horse running on waves, located on her lower back — came on her 18th birthday.
“It was not done properly,” said Goulet, who advises people to eat before visiting a tattoo parlour. “My first tattoo was not fun. I was so nervous and ended up passing out about 15 minutes in. I had no idea I was supposed to eat. You’re supposed to keep your blood sugar levels up. It’s a workout. That’s probably why I like it.”
Goulet won three gold medals last year at her first fitness competition. She is training for a pro qualifier July 31 in Toronto.
“I like to push my body to the limit, whether it’s fitness or tattoos,” she said.
Besides training for fitness events, she runs an online clothing business called Herb N’ Wear.
