Canada Post union workers returned to picket outside the Port Hardy post office this morning.
Locals from other unions were also out to support the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) union members on Nov. 22. Port Hardy’s post office is one of many across Vancouver Island that are on strike. Courtenay, Campbell River, and Nanaimo had local union members go out on strike today.
Canada Post mentioned in an online post this morning that residents should expect delivery delays because of “prolonged and ongoing rotating strikes.” The strikes are now going into the fifth week and have affected nearly every Canada Post office across the nation.
Rotating walkouts have started about a month ago in a push to meet contract demands for union workers.
