Motorists in the area of Proctor Street and 4th Ave. North described a chaotic scene which unfolded in the area of Proctor Street and 4th Ave North Wednesday morning, resulting in a cyclist being hit.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene at approximately 9:10 a.m.
The incident was attended by Central Cariboo Search and Rescue members who administered first aid to the cyclist until EHS arrived and transported the male victim, age 49, to hospital.
Denise Wilson was driving in the area when the incident took place.
“I didn’t actually see the car hit the guy on the bike but I saw the bike go in the air and heard the crash and then I saw the car coming down the sidewalk and then he when he came out onto the road … he came out straight at me. So I had to swerve to get out of the way,” Wilson told the Tribune at the scene.
“He sped out down the road. He looked like he was either very, very drunk or running from something.”
Wilson said she saw the cyclist on the ground, and noted there were a bunch of people who came to his aid.
“So that was really good.”
The Tribune observed skid marks going up onto the sidewalk from the road at the scene.
The matter is being investigated by the Williams Lake RCMP and Cariboo Chilcotin Traffic Services.
Williams Lake Fire Department Chief Erick Peterson also attended.
