Cyclist struck by vehicle

A lone cyclist was struck near Highway 97 and Richter Street last night

Kelowna RCMP received a report of a cyclist involved collision near the intersection of Richter Street and Harvey Avenue on April 12 around 9 p.m.

Witnesses at the scene told police that the driver of a yellow Chevrolet Cobalt, had been eastbound on Harvey Avenue when the cyclist suddenly crossed the highway southbound on Richter Street. It is believed that the vehicle had a green light, while the cyclists light had just turned red.

The cyclist, a 29-year-old Kelowna man, was transported to the hospital for medical assessment and treatment of what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

The driver remained at the scene and fully cooperated with police. Investigators interviewed several witnesses at the scene. Charges have not been laid at this time. Any additional witness may contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
