A fire in a second-storey rental unit caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to a home and its contents on Darwin Avenue Thursday evening.
Eighteen Saanich fire fighters arrived to find smoke pouring from the residential suite in the Quadra-Cedar Hill neighbourhood just before 7 p.m. on May 3. They contained the blaze to the upper level, which sustained heavy fire and smoke damage. It was extinguished quickly.
The Saanich fire department has not yet determined a cause. No injuries were reported.
