Grand Forks’ own Darwin Benson was one of a select few to receive an honourary lifetime membership from the BC NDP at the party’s convention in Vancouver recently.
“Our honourary lifetime members have contributed thousands of hours over their lifetime towards building the BC NDP. They are the backbone of our party’s vision to make a prosperous and just society,” the convention guide proclaimed.
Benson has been a member of the NDP for 48 years. He has worked on over 25 campaigns, starting in 1965 with Norman Fawcett in Ontario to present day with Richard Cannings in South Okanagan-West Kootenay.
In introducing lifetime membership award honourees, Benson was welcomed on stage with accolades. ”Having served on both local riding and constituency executives, Darwin is always the one that steps up to get the work done. He has never beena fraid to knock on doors or to call people for their support. He is a valued member of Boundary-Similkameen and is known for taking on every challenge presented.”
