Outgoing Stampede Queen Savannah Davies-Laviolette gently places her crown on the head of her successor, Davana Mahon, Saturday night in a ceremony held at the Elks Hall kicking off a week of activities in the lakecity to celebrate the 85th annual Williams Lake Stampede and Canada Day.
Davana will be crowned again in the rodeo ring during the opening ceremonies for the first performance rodeo taking place in the Stampede Grounds at 6 p.m. Thursday evening. Both of the other two Stampede Queen contestants, Bobi Bracewell and Alexia Colton, were crowned as Stampede Princesses in a contest that was too close to call. The Stampede royalty take part in the grand entry for each of the four rodeo performances happening this week. Rodeo performances are Thursday and Friday evenings at 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.
