BRIDGEVIEW — A dead man has been found in a vehicle in the Bridgeview area.
Surrey RCMP say they are not calling in the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, which takes conduct of murder investigations.
“In order for IHIT to come in, the file has to fall within their mandate,” said Corporal Scotty Schumann.
Surrey RCMP say there “is no apparent risk to the public.”
“Investigators are only saying it’s not clear what the cause of death is,” said Schumann when asked if this was a shooting. “We’re not in a position to talk about what evidence, if any, was located at scene. The integrity of the investigation is paramount especially when we aren’t sure yet what the cause of death is.”
The General Investigation Unit is leading the investigation.
The BC Coroners Service has been called and will be working in partnership with the RCMP. They have ruled out foul play.
Police closed King George Boulevard in both directions between 128th and 132nd streets.
