A Delta man has died following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 17 that led to traffic closures along the main road Thursday night (Sept. 20).
The driver of the Ford F150 had crashed into the median at the Highway 17A exit while travelling north on the highway around 6 p.m., according to a Delta police department press release. The jaws-of-life were used to remove the man from his vehicle, but died at the scene.

The driver, a Delta man in his 50s, was the only person in the vehicle. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Footage from the scene shows a mangled white truck that appeared to have slammed into a barrier. It was raining at the time of the accident, although that has not been said to be the cause of the crash.
Delta police say the accident remains under investigation, and the cause hasn’t been determined yet.
Delta police were on scene until about 10 p.m. that night, according to the DPD press release. The road was re-opened after 10 p.m.
