Mission Public School trustees heard a school closure update from superintendent Frank Dunham Tuesday evening in which he praised the politicians for establishing and adhering to good process.
He also touched on enrolment projection updates which the district recently received.
Trustee Randy Cairns noted Deroche residents are pointing to a potential 150-lot residential development that would inevitably bring more families to the area. He queried whether the numbers in the report include that proposed project.
Secretary treasurer Carrie McVeigh answered no, stating she spoke with a Fraser Valley Regional District planner and that the project is speculative right now.
“At this point, if it went ahead, and that’s a big if, it would be five to 10 years out,” she said. “It’s very much an unknown.”
