Directors Siddon (Area “D”) and Litke (Penticton) put forward a request to provincial and federal governments to renew their commitment to meeting greenhouse gas reduction targets.
Director Stu Wells, (Osoyoos)also put forward a late resolution to request staff to investigate Interior Health’s beach sampling process and report back to the board.
The motion came after suggestions that changes to IH’s beach water quality analysis will be disastrous for the local tourist industry.
Wells told the board instead of four samples of water averaged, the health authority could now potentially close a beach based on a single reading spike.
“That spike could be for many reasons,” Wells commented.
