Two men were seriously injured in a dirt bike collision in Maple Ridge on Wednesday.
The crash took place at approximately 4:42 p.m. on a remote trail, called the Sandman Trail, about 1.5 kilometres from the north end of 256th Street.
Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue was called and had to hike in to the victims because the trail was too narrow even for an ATV, according to spokesman Rick Laing.
The crew hiked in for approximately half an hour, and brought the victims out on a stretcher with a single ATV wheel.
B.C. Emergency Health Services said four paramedic crews responded to the scene, adding that it took about a half hour to get to the patients. It took another two hours to stablize the patients to ensure they were safe enough to move, said Lesley Pritchard with EHS.
One of the victims was in serious condition and the other in stable condition.
One man was taken to hospital by air ambulance, and the other went by ground ambulance.
One of the victims was unconscious.
