Discovering creativity in the community

Art Crawl showcases local talent

The North Thompson Arts Council held its Art Crawl last weekend when local artists invited the public into their home studios to view their work, see the artistic process in motion, as well as try their hands at different mediums.

Participating venues included Helen Knight Studio, which featured acrylic work reflecting the artist’s love and respect for nature. Vickie Morden’s studio was also open, where detailed landscapes done with oils and acrylics were on display.

The Red Umbrella had a variety of works to see by artists like Joan Smith, Robin Walker, Irene Gouchie, Jacquie Miller, Cherie Bluett, Eleanor Deckert, Colleen Hanson, Marc Laforest, Jim Loates, Donna Meehan, Johann and Ken Miller, Helmcken Chocolates, Hilda Reimer, Karen de Repentigny, Bobby joy Seib, Amanda Wilkinson.

Their works included paintings, pottery, handcrafted knitting, woodworks, and photography.

Also on the map was Doris Scarff Dreams and Delusions Art Studio where paintings of animals, pet portraits and rock paintings could be viewed as well as stained glass and jewelry made by Carolyn Kramer.

Joanne Wright hosted an interactive exploration into fiber arts, her preferred medium, where works by the Thompson Valley Quilters were also on display.

Harvest Studio by Doris Laner also displayed artworks in a wide variety of mediums for participants in the Art Crawl to enjoy.
