Distinctive boat trailer stolen from Shawnigan Lake

"This is a unique trailer that could not have been simply towed away with a regular pickup"

Keep your eyes open for a very distinctive boat trailer that was stolen from Shawnigan Lake.

The Shawnigan lake RCMP are looking for the public’s assistance in locating the trailer, which was taken sometime during the evening of April 28 to the morning of April 29.

The large Thomcat trailer was stolen from Mason’s Beach near Renfrew Road where it had been parked.

According to the owner this boat trailer is the only known one in the Cowichan Valley, and would be easily identifiable. A large vehicle with specialized trailer hitch would have had to have been used in order to tow the trailer away. The trailer had British Columbia licence plate 81017U when it was parked.

“This is a unique trailer that could not have been simply towed away with a regular pickup,” said Constable John Braun of the Shawnigan Lake RCMP. “We are sure that someone has since seen this trailer on the road, or parked in a new location and are asking them to please call the Shawnigan Lake RCMP.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Shawnigan Lake RCMP Detachment, their local police, or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
