District of 100 Mile House in good hands

100 Mile House Fire-Rescue members responde to more that 250 incidents a year

100 Mile House Fire-Rescue has been operating since 1954 as a fire brigade, and then officially since 1956 as a fire department.

100 Mile House Fire-Rescue has a career fire chief and up to 27 paid-on-call firefighters. The dedicated community members provide fire suppression, medical response, rescue, fire prevention and training services.

The department responds to more than 250 incidents per year.

The crew is well equipped with modern fire equipment, including two engines, a tender, a brush, a rescue and two support vehicles, and small equipment and tools.

Members train to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1001 Standard for professional firefighters, along with medical, rescue and apparatus operator training.

The department also operates the Emergency Services Training Centre (ESTC), which provides an excellent live fire-training venue for area departments. The ESTC is one of about a dozen such training centres in the province.

100 Mile House Fire-Rescue will be accepting applications for the 2013 Recruit Class in late October. If you think you might be interested in giving back to your community and being a member of this team, check out www.100milefire.com for more recruit information.
