Elkford’s Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Curtis Helgesen has resigned after 13 years with the District.
Helgesen spent six years as Director of Financial Services before taking the top job. He has accepted a position as CAO of the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako in Burns Lake, B.C., and will begin on July 1.
During his time with the District of Elkford, Helgesen has championed numerous projects and been instrumental in moving the organization towards a sustainable future.
“From project management on the award-winning Community Conference Centre, to enhancement of the District’s flood mitigation and trail network, to implementing the strategic and operational priorities of Council, Helgesen’s contributions are countless,” said the District in a release.
He has been nominated for the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ (FCM) 2019 Mike Badham Individual Award for his work with the Sustainable and Inclusive Communities in Latin America (CISAL) Program. The District is also up for an institutional award.
Elkford Mayor Dean McKerracher thanked Helgesen for his invaluable contributions to both the District and community.
“He has effectively and positively led us toward greatness, and his leadership has shaped the solid foundation and success of our organization,” he said. “He will be missed.”
At this time, the District has not made any decisions regarding the process for replacing the CAO.
