Nobody was seriously injured after a woman drove a car through the front window of the Bulkley Village Shopping Centre and part way into the Dollar Store.
Store manager Zenny Schwegler was putting shopping baskets away during a busy lunch hour Friday, metres from the window.
She said a customer was browsing the cards against the window when the car came slowly through. The woman by the cards was very shaken up but physically unharmed, according to Schwegler.
Smithers RCMP were on the scene to investigate.
Sgt. Darren Durnin said via email that the driver was issued a motor vehicle act violation ticket for reversing when unsafe.
“The concern around remaining at the scene of an accident was addressed as a warning, highlighting the consequences of failing to do so, and the responsibility of the driver,” he wrote.
The matter will be forwarded to ICBC to address the civil aspect of the liability for the related damage.
