Domestic violence team investigates serious stabbing

Victoria man, 24, listed in stable but serious condition

A Victoria woman is in police custody after police say she stabbed her boyfriend Thursday night.

Victoria officers responded to an apartment suite in the 2600-block of Prior St. at 11:45 p.m. after receiving a 911 call from a man who said he had been stabbed.

Officers arrived to find the man unconsciousness and bleeding profusely from a single chest wound, said Victoria police spokesperson Mike Tucker.

The 24-year-old was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery. By Friday afternoon, the man was in stable but serious condition.

His 30-year-old partner was arrested inside the residence. She is facing aggravated assault charges.

Detectives with VicPD’s Major Crimes Unit have turned the investigation over to the Regional Domestic Violence Unit.

The unit was formed in 2010 to provide follow-up services in domestic violence cases in which there are high-risk factors, or a high risk to victims and/or their children.

There were no children involved in the violent incident on Prior Street.
