Donations now being accepted for Coats For The Community

LD Plumbing and Heating and the Ladysmith Resources Centre Association are now accepting and providing coats and warm accessories.

To reflect that it provides warm clothing for the whole community, the popular Coats For Kids program in Ladysmith has a new name, Coats For The Community, but the intent sure hasn’t changed.

Once again this year, the program is being sponsored by LD Plumbing and Heating and the Ladysmith Resources Centre Association (LRCA).

The program started Monday, and it runs until Friday, Dec. 20. Used coats and warm accessories such as gloves and hats can be dropped off Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at LD Plumbing and Heating at 810 Esplanade (across from Subway) or the Ladysmith Resources Centre at 630 Second Ave. Community members who could use coats or accessories this winter — or people who know someone who would benefit — can pick them up during those times as well.

Camille Soer of LD Plumbing and Heating says the program was quite a success last year, and it was fairly consistent that there was a need for coats for younger toddlers and for adult men.

Soer asks for coats that do not have any rips or tears.

“Good clothing is so appreciated,” she said.
