Commuters from the West Shore were delayed Monday morning due to a truck fire on a major overpass.
A Doritos delivery truck caught fire just after 6 a.m. on the Millstream overpass in Langford.
Langford Fire Rescue responded around 6:15 a.m. to find the fire significantly developed. The driver had attempted to extinguish the flames but was unsuccessful.
The crew called in more resrouces to assist with the blaze.
Langford Fire told Black Press that finding hot spots amongst the products and boxes was difficult.
“Chips are very flammable,” said Langford fire chief Chris Aubrey. “Once they get going, a bag of chips can start a significant fire.”

Motorists were still getting through but traffic maps showed long lineups as vehicles attempted to merge onto Highway 1, while others detoured to Highway 1 A through View Royal, which was also backed up at that time.
The accident was cleared within an hour. There were no injuries.
