A drug bust near Vernon’s downtown core has resulted in two prolific offenders being arrested.
Vernon RCMP downtown enforcement officers were conducting patrols Wednesday at 10 a.m. for a suspicious vehicle possibly involved with drug trafficking.
A concerned citizen told police about an older motor-home and other vehicles near a residence in the 3300 block of 35th Avenue.
One of the officers located a suspect vehicle travelling near 24th Avenue at around 11 a.m. with four men inside and stopped the vehicle.
“Our officers had reasonable grounds to believe that the occupants were in possession of drugs and all four occupants were arrested,” said RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.
A search of the vehicle revealed nearly $4,000 in cash, along with weapons and drugs.
Drugs seized, said Molendyk, included crystal methamphetamine, crack cocaine, and one bag of suspected heroin.
Two men who police deem prolific offenders, one in his 30s, the other 33 and both from Vernon, were held in court and were expected to face charges Thursday.
The other two men were released.
