Drive BC is warning motorists on Highway 1 and 7 between Hope and the communities of Mission and Abbotsford to watch out for high winds and debris on the road.
The warning is for both Highway 7 between Hope and Mission, and Highway 1 between Hope and Abbotsford. An Environment Canada wind warning is also in place for the western and central Fraser Valley, warning of a ‘significant wind storm’ which could cause ‘widespread damage’.
The warning stated southwesterly winds of 70 to 90 kilometres per hour were expected in the early afternoon, with stronger gusts above 100 kilometres an hour. Winds will ease towards the early evening, the advisory stated.
