Police in Abbotsford are still hoping to talk with the driver of a second vehicle about suspicious incident involving young girl

Driver comes forward following police request

One of the two drivers who police were hoping to speak to in relation to a suspicious incident involving a young girl has come forward.

Const. Ian MacDonald said the driver of the white pickup has contacted the Abbotsford Police Department (APD), while the driver of the red pickup has not.

It is not yet known whether the driver of the white vehicle had any valuable information to provide.

Police issued a request on Friday to have the drivers of two particulars vehicles come forward to see if there were any details they could provide.

The pickup trucks had been captured on security video in the area of Enterprise Avenue and McCallum Road just after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30.

On that day, police received a call from another driver who saw a young girl in a pink jacket lying on the side of the road at about 6:20 p.m.

The driver said he saw a man pick up the girl and carry her in the direction of a treed area just west of that location.

The report resulted in police and members of Central Valley Search and Rescue searching the area until about 3 a.m. Wednesday to no avail.

MacDonald said police have not been contacted by the man who was seen with the girl nor have police received any reports of missing girls.

All girls enrolled in the Abbotsford school district have been accounted for.

“Nonetheless, we are still seeking definitive answers to ensure the well-being of the child involved and to explain the observations of the very credible witness,” he said.

Police would still like to speak to the driver of the red pickup truck that drove east on Enterprise and turned north onto Turner Street on Sept. 30 after 6 p.m.

That person is asked to contact the APD at 604-859-5225 or text 222973 (abbypd).
