Driver hits daycare, OK

POLICE BEAT: Mounties say a driver may have suffered a medical inciden

Mounties say a driver may have suffered a medical incident just before running into a daycare centre.

No one was at the daycare on South Dogwood Street when the accident occurred Saturday at 6:40 a.m.

A witness reported hearing the sound of screeching tires as the southbound car went over the median, took out a bus bench and a sign, and then crashed near the entrance. Police say the driver may have suffered a seizure, but was not injured in the accident.

Woman sought, possible witness

Police are hoping to identify and speak with a woman who’s a potential witness in an ongoing investigation. Campbell River RCMP released no details about the investigation, but say the woman in question was at the hospital Thrift Store, located on 2nd Avenue, on June 25. The woman arrived in a light-coloured, four-door Volvo station wagon that has a roof rack and dropped off a donation at the rear door around 12:15 p.m. According to Const. Matt Holst of the Major Crime Unit, police want to speak with the woman or anyone who may have seen her. He also said that police have a photograph of the woman in question and may release it to media to assist in her identification.
