Driver hurt as taxi and hatchback crash in Nanaimo

Collision happened Friday at intersection of Fitzwilliam, Pine and Third streets

A driver was hurt in a crash involving a hatchback and a taxi minivan on Friday afternoon.

Crews were called to the intersection of Fitzwilliam, Pine and Third streets just before 12:45 p.m. Jan. 22.

Crews on scene said the driver of the small car was being transported to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital with unknown injuries.

The section of Pine Street from Bruce Avenue to Third Street was closed in both directions as crews cleared the scene.

There were four crashes at the Fitzwilliam, Pine and Third intersection in 2019, according to ICBC statistics, and 28 over the five-year period from 2015-2019.
