A man was killed in a crash on Cedar Road near the Cedar bridge south of Nanaimo yesterday.
According to Nanaimo RCMP, the male driver of a pickup truck died after a head-on collision with another pickup truck at about 1:50 p.m. Saturday.
Two passengers were airlifted to hospital, with one taken to Vancouver and one taken to Victoria.
Five ambulances were at the scene tending to patients. The road was closed until night time.
Nanaimo RCMP said no causes for the crash have yet been determined, but the investigation will continue, including mechanical inspections of the vehicles involved.
Andy Watson of the B.C. Coroners service said “we are in the early stages of our fact-finding investigation” around the crash.
