BC Hydro is on the scene after power lines were downed by a recycling truck Monday morning on Niagara Street.
Power is out in the area but should be up in half an hour. Streets and sidewalks are open. No one was hurt in the accident. BC hydro Trouble Technician Dough Brooks said the operation was pretty textbook, with the driver taking all the right steps.
“He stayed in the truck until we arrived,” Brooks said. The fire department was first on scene, keeping the public at a safe distance until BC Hydro arrived. Even though power was out, 12,000 volts still ran through the wires.
