No one was injured when a logging truck tipped over and spilled its load near Sproat Lake on Wednesday (Sept. 16) morning.
The incident took place on Faber Road near Ash Main. It happened at around 10:30 a.m., according to a man who lives a street over. He heard the commotion but didn’t see anything.
The truck was operated on behalf of Mosaic Forest Management. “I can confirm that we did have an incident today with one of our logging trucks,” Mosaic manager of communications Evelina Lamu wrote in an e-mail. “Thankfully, the driver is unhurt.”
Lamu said the company is still looking into what happened, and would provide more information once it is available.
According to Port Alberni RCMP Sgt. Peter Dionne, a parked car was clipped by the logging truck when it tipped over. The logging truck had “significant damage,” said Dionne, but there were no injuries. The road was closed to traffic on Wednesday afternoon while crews cleaned up.
Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) is currently investigating.
