Creston RCMP responded to 103 calls for service from July 20-26, a week that featured an unusually high number of driving complaints, Cpl. Gerry Sliworsky said on Monday.
July 20
•A wallet found on Highway 3A was returned to its owner.
•A warning letter was sent to the owner of a white Ford van reported to be driving erratically on Erickson Road at Highway 3.
•An abandoned vehicle on the East Kidd Creek Forest Service Road was towed.
•A complaint about endangering a pedestrian in a Northwest Boulevard parking lot will result in a warning letter to the owner of the vehicle in question.
•A white Schwinn bicycle valued at $1,500 was stolen from Third Avenue South.
•A man’s leather purse containing an iPod was stolen on Birch Street.
•A passport was reported lost on Canyon Street.
•A road check near Canyon-Lister Bridge saw 50 vehicles stopped and several drivers issued warnings.
•No injuries resulted from a collision on Northwest Boulevard at Vancouver Street.
•A road check on Highway 3A near Starbelly Jam found one driver having over-consumed alcohol. He was given a 90-day driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
July 21
•Two vehicles parked illegally near Canyon-Lister Bridge were towed.
•A vehicle collided with a deer on Highway 3A at Kootenay River Road.
•Vodka was shoplifted from a Canyon Street business.
•A vehicle stopped on Canyon Street was towed and the driver ticketed for having no insurance.
July 22
•Two more vehicles were towed for parking illegally near Canyon-Lister Bridge.
•Thefts were reported from a number of tents housing itinerant fruit pickers on Erickson Road.
•An elderly female died suddenly in her home on Erickson Road.
•A warning letter to the Alberta owner of a blue Audi was sent after a report of erratic driving.
•Police are investigating speeding by a prohibited driver on Canyon-Lister Road.
•Under investigation is a complaint from Mallory Place about a neighbour throwing an object at a dog.
•Creston police assisted Trail RCMP with a theft investigation.
•A complaint about harassing messages to a Highway 3 resident is being investigated.
July 23
•Police were unable to determine the source of noise reported in a 11th Avenue South backyard.
•An elderly male died suddenly in his Riondel home.
•A duffle bag containing clothing was stolen from a vehicle parked on Cook Street.
•Surveillance camera videos are being checked following a shoplifting report at a Northwest Boulevard business.
•A Honda lawnmower was stolen from 11th Avenue South.
•Police are investigating an assault complaint.
•A black Dodge four-by-four pickup was reported to be driving erratically on Helen Street.
•No charges are being pursued after a youth shoplifted from a Yahk business.
•The loser of a consensual fight on Cook Street complained to police.
•A male who breached court conditions on Sixth Avenue South was arrested and held in cells overnight.
July 24
•A male who was refusing to leave a Canyon Street business did so when police arrived.
•Police received a report of a fraud involving the sale of a timeshare in the in U.S.
•Police are investigating a report of minors producing child pornography.
•A summons was delivered on behalf of Elk Valley RCMP.
•A hit and run was reported in a Cook Street parking lot.
•The driver of a grey Mazda that nearly hit a pedestrian on Cook Street was issued a ticket.
•No injuries resulted from a four-vehicle collision involving rear-enders when a vehicle slowed to a make a turn onto Johnson Road in Yahk. Two of the vehicles had to be towed.
•A complaint about coworkers was made by a Highway 3A business employee.
•A Balsam Road resident complained about a dog running loose.
July 25
•A pedestrian reported being followed by a suspicious vehicle on Vancouver Street. Police did not locate the vehicle.
•A report of mischief to a vehicle on Canyon-Lister Road was received.
•A warning letter was sent to the owner of a Volkswagen Jetta that passed illegally on Crusher Road at Highway 3A.
•The driver of a Honda Accord that ran a stop sign on Canyon Street was sent a warning letter.
•A summons was served to an 11th Avenue South resident.
•An Alberta truck was reported to be driving erratically on 20th Avenue North at Canyon Street.
•A warning letter was sent to the owner of a B.C.-plated grey Toyota Matrix for driving erratically in Kitchener on Highway 3A.
•A driver went off Erickson Road at 25th Avenue South after passing another vehicle, colliding with a fire hydrant. A ticket for driving without due care and attention was issued.
•No injuries were reported when a vehicle collided with a deer on Highway 21 in Lister.
•A silver Marin mountain bike was stolen from 11th Avenue North.
•The occupants ran off after a Quebec vehicle went off the road and into an orchard on 25th Avenue South. The vehicle was towed and the driver, when found, was issued a number of tickets for driving infractions.
July 26
•A suicidal male was transported to hospital for evaluation.
•Another break-in to a series of sheds at Creston Golf Course was reported. A list of stolen objects was unavailable at press time.
•The windows of a Ford Focus were smashed on Canyon-Lister Road.
•Clothing and personal items were found on Highway 3.
•A vehicle with no insurance was towed from Highway 3A.
•A wallet found on Highway 3A was turned in at the police station.
•Police are investigating the cutting of a lock on a Canyon-Lister Road property’s gate.
•A white Pontiac Grand Am reported to have gone off the road on Highway 3 at Goat River Road was not found when police attended.
•A male refusing to leave a Canyon Street business was gone when police arrived.
